SHOWCASING RESEARCH IN THE NATURAL SCIENCES
Universities carry out their core duties – research and research-based teaching – in close cooperation with the surrounding society. Public engagement is a particular focus of the duties of Luomus. The public attractions of Luomus are Finland’s most significant showcase of research in the natural sciences for the general public. Through the attractions and the publications intended for a general audience, Luomus promotes education in the natural sciences. Exhibiting the national collections is the third statutory duty of Luomus.
Various guided tours and themed events, combined with professionally arranged exhibitions and rich gardens, offer visitors up-to-date information on nature and present recent research results.
